Current Disaster Information Minimize

 Hurricane Gustav, Tropical Storm Hanna

To support National VOAD members:

National VOAD members responding to the disaster area are utilizing the support and experience of their trained volunteers. Volunteers are usually in most need during the recovery period which can take weeks to years. DO NOT deploy to the disaster area unless specifically connected to and requested by a locally receiving organization.

Cash donations are always best and will be in great need to support the relief and recovery efforts.

To provide support to Louisiana and Mississippi:

Volunteers who wish to assist the states of Louisiana and Mississippi in response to Hurricane Gustav can visit www.volunteerlouisiana.gov and www.volunteermississippi.org respectively.

Welcome to National VOAD Minimize

National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (National VOAD) is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle—preparation, response and recovery—to help disaster survivors and their communities.

Members of National VOAD form a coalition of nonprofit organizations that respond to disasters as part of their overall mission. Together we foster more effective service through the four C’s—communication, coordination, cooperation and collaboration—by providing convening mechanisms and outreach for all people and organizations involved in disasters.
