The Housing Committee provides a collaborative forum for voluntary organizations engaged in disaster-related housing recovery. It facilitates the review of critical issues, the exchange of best practices, and the dissemination of Board-approved guidance to support effective and resilient housing solutions.
Committee discussions cover a range of practical topics, including post-disaster clean-up, management of hazardous materials, and the delivery of both temporary and permanent housing through repair and rebuilding efforts rooted in resilient construction practices. The committee also addresses systemic challenges and innovative solutions to ensure inclusive, whole-community recovery for all individuals affected by disaster-related housing loss.
Guided by the National VOAD Housing Committee Points of Consensus (POC) and grounded in the principles of the 4 C’s—Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration—the committee leverages expert knowledge and shared experiences to strengthen housing recovery nationwide.
