Membership in National VOAD
National VOAD supports the coordination of planning efforts by voluntary organizations responding to disaster. Member organizations provide more effective and less duplicative service by getting together before disasters strike. Once disasters occur, National VOAD, or an affiliated State or U.S. Territory VOAD, encourages members and other voluntary agencies to convene on site. This cooperative effort has proven to be the most effective way for a wide variety of volunteers and organizations to work together in a crisis.
There are two types of members in National VOAD: National Members, State/Territory VOADs. National Members are those organizations with a national scope and reach when responding to disasters. National VOAD currently has 50 National Members. While National Members work to help National VOAD coordinate efforts at the national level, State/Territory VOAD exist to ensure similar coordinating efforts occur among organizations at the state and local level. National VOAD currently has State VOAD membership from all 50 states and Territory VOAD membership from 5 United States territories.
